Here is our new blog
Meet the new Ornamentico shop blog for inspiring jewelry tutorials, tips, and stories from us. Create beauty with beads and wood!
This is a brand new blog page for ornamentico.shop. First, we invite you to subscribe to this blog to stay updated and receive emails when new content is published! We plan to share stories about our handmade journey, project tutorials, and various hints, tips, and tricks for crafting handmade jewelry.
First, let’s introduce ourselves. Our names are Maria and Andrey.
We have been handcrafting and selling jewelry and small art objects for the home for several years now. Our favorite materials are beads and wood; however, we also enjoy experimenting and learning new techniques. Sometimes, we create mixed-media jewelry that combines wood with polymer clay, beading with embroidery, or beaded embroidery on fabrics.
Traveling and living in various countries have immersed us in different cultures and traditions, which sparked our interest in ornaments and colors - hence the name of our company, "Ornamentico." Spending time in nature and tending to our garden has inspired floral motifs in our jewelry and crafts.
The majority of our jewelry is made using Japanese Miyuki beads. The variety of colors and types of Miyuki beads leads to rich patterns and effects. Specifically, Miyuki Delica beads allow for precise and accurate beadwork, making the jewelry look neat. Much of our jewelry is crafted using the peyote stitch technique, which is especially effective for achieving precise shapes and densities. Hundreds of hues are available, allowing for the creation of jewelry with gradients as well as pieces featuring many colors and shades.
We also experiment with what is known as "sculptural" beading, where we use beads, bugle beads, sequins, and stones to create various 3D objects, such as voluminous rings, earrings, and pendants. Embedding these sculpturally beaded elements into wood creates a truly magical combination.
We work with semi-precious stones, especially for enhancing our earrings or brooches.
Finally, we create jewelry for everyone: we have a collection of men's bracelets, beautiful jewelry for kids, a variety of pieces for women, seasonal collections for Christmas, Halloween, and St. Valentine's Day, as well as exclusive one-of-a-kind pieces.
Outside of creating and selling jewelry, we also truly believe, that beauty can save the world. To share our jewelry journey we created a YouTube channel where we are teaching others how to create some of our jewelry. In those detailed tutorials, we explain in detail every step of creation, as well as provide guidance and tips on the process. This led to us starting selling patterns for our beaded jewelry which you can also find in our online shop.
We hope this blog will be interesting and useful for you. We will be sharing openly our jewelry-making journey, including some work-in-progress projects, learnings on working with various and new materials as well as mistakes and failures. So, once again, go ahead and subscribe to this blog to stay up to date and receive new content as soon as it is published!
We hope we will encourage you to try creating something with us to make your world filled with beauty, colors, and handmade jewelry.
Stay in touch,
Maria and Andrey
